“I mean, the idea you have a First Amendment right to corporate welfare or having a local government that you basically control with no accountability is ridiculous,” he added. The company alleges in the lawsuit that the state violated Disney's First Amendment right to free speech, the contract and takings clauses in the U.S. Constitution, and the company's 14th Amendment right to due process.
"A targeted campaign of government retaliation, orchestrated at every step by Governor DeSantis as punishment for Disney’s protected speech, now threatens Disney’s business operations, jeopardizes its economic future in the region, and violates its constitutional rights," Disney alleges in the lawsuit.
