Defending champion Justin Thomas stayed in the hunt for a potential THEPLAYERSChamp repeat in Saturday's golf.
On a Saturday where the Players Champion saw a noon start and 29 golf balls were sent to a watery grave on 17, Thomas—who played the hole twice on Saturday—never let the elements phase him.
He started his second round with the more poise, stroking the ball through gusting winds and hitting 14 greens. With fans surrounding him on three sides, Thomas blasted the ball through the trees, sailing over the water to the edge of the rough. From there he recovered, hitting the fairway, then green, and finally, sinking a 7-foot putt to make par.
