His ERA also jumped more than a run from 3.10 to 4.15.
Now maybe the idea is to get three innings from Heaney and then send Dunning out there to see how many right-handed hitters he can face or how quickly Hyde will rush to his bench, now that rosters have been reduced to 26 players. I can’t tell you. I just know that Heaney had his moments for Texas but it wasn’t close to what management was looking for when he was guaranteed $25 million for two seasons last winter.
Maybe management feels like it’s time for him to start paying them back. Either way, the puzzling 30-year-old lefty gets first call for the Rangers in the ALDS. The swing-and-miss watch is on and so is the Orioles’ walk total.Josh Jung spent September chasing his old self.
