Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Truck Will Feature A 229 KWh Battery & 500 Mile Range
At the New York auto show this week, Ram was jumping up and down with joy about the Dodge Ram REV electric pickup truck coming in 2025. Its specs are truly astounding. The truck will be available with two batteries — one rated at 168 kWh with an estimated range of 350 miles and the other rated at a staggering 229 kWh with an estimated range of 500 miles. The company says its new groundpounder will have a maximum payload of 2,700 pounds and be capable of towing 14,000 pounds.
Those are policy considerations that have little to do with us ordinary citizens, but a few months ago a writer I hold in the highest regard speculated that it would be only a matter of time before the $40,000 commercial tax credit was used as an excuse to build ridiculously heavy vehicles for the well-heeled to drive to their local big box building supply store to buy a box of 12d nails or a 2X4. It seems that day got here sooner than anyone anticipated.
Autonomous vehicle capabilities include Hands-free Active Driving Assist and ParkSense Automated Parking System. Active Driving Assist is available for hands-on-wheel/eyes-on-road and hands-free/eyes-on-road automated driving using lane centering with adaptive cruise control. The system uses multiple sensors, including radars and cameras, to dictate appropriate roads for the technology Uconnect 5 system with a new 14.5-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a segment-first 10.
