RAI Cinema has scored sales in Cannes on new works by Mario Martone, Gianni Amelio, and Irene Dionisio

” Naples-set “Trick” has been picked up following a teaser presentation at the Cannes Marché du Film by Benelux , Brazil , Switzerland , and Greece , Portugal , and Bulgaria .

Starring Italy’s two top rising female stars Tecla Insolia and Romana Maggiora Vergano , “Idda” is about two childhood friends, now in their thirties, who find themselves during a hike up Sicily’s Mount Etna volcano.
“The Sound of Something New,” the new concept movie by “Perfect Strangers” director Paolo Genovese continued to rack up sales, getting snapped up by France , Bulgaria , Brazil , Switzerland , and Baltics . This comes following previously announced Cannes pickups of “Something New” to Spain , Poland , Hungaria , Greece and Cyprus , Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia .
RAI Cinema International Distribution also started scoring pickups on a new ecology-themed doc by Oscar-nominated Kossakovsky “Greenworld,” made in collaboration with Italian botanist Stefano Mancuso, a pioneer in the plant neurobiology movement, that was acquired by Beta Film for Bulgaria.
“Things We Don’t Say,” the latest feature by Gabriele Muccino, whose Hollywood credits include Will Smith-starrer “The Pursuit of Happyness,” secured deals in Australia and New Zealand , Brazil , India , Romania , Baltics , Switzerland , Cyprus and Greece , Poland , Portugal and South Korea . Documentary “Le Angelesse,” directed by Roberta Torre, about female inmates in a Milan penitentiary who are preparing to perform Christmas carols behind bars and provides several backstories of why they are in jail, was acquired for Bulgaria by Beta Film.
Comedy “A Good Day,” directed by and starring Fabio De Luigi, went to Australia and New Zealand , Switzerland and Inflight . Additional RAI Cinema catalogue sales comprise Alessio Rigo de Righi and Matteo Zoppis’ surreal western “Heads or Tails” and Elisa Amoruso’s “Beloved,” both acquired for Brazil by Orta Film, and Gabriele Salvatores’ “Napoli New York” which was picked up for France by Moonlight.
