A healthtech startup is using AI to treat obesity. See the 10-slide presentation Alfie Health used to get funding from Y Combinator.
"Obesity medications are not a one-size-fits-all. Different underlying conditions causing obesity need different treatments," he said.Alfie Health's founders wanted to take their experience in medicine and biomedical engineering to build a profitable business around obesity tech, Singh said.
Alfie Health works with a number of third-party companies to provide all aspects of its platform, Singh said. The startup recently notched a partnership with the remote-monitoring company Withings to send smart scales to Alfie Health's patients.Singh said Alfie Health planned to get more devices connected to its platform, including blood-pressure monitors for patients on medications that can affect blood pressure.
Alfie Health has patients in seven states, including New York and New Jersey, according to Singh. The platform's availability is based on where Alfie Health's partners have clinics, he said.Singh declined to list the additional states where Alfie Health was offered but said patients could fill out its interest form to see whether the program was available in their state.
Alfie Health's primary goal for the rest of the year is to secure more partnerships with healthcare organizations to grow its business through referrals, Singh said.Part of this slide was redacted because it contained information about the financial models of Alfie Health's partnerships with healthcare organizations, Singh said. He declined to share further information about those models.
Singh said the $2.1 million pre-seed funding round should give Alfie Health a cash runway of roughly 12 to 18 months.
