Pedestrian killed while walking on south I-5 in La Jolla Village area Monday night [Breaking]

A man died after he was hit by a car Monday night while he was walking on southbound Interstate 5 in the La Jolla Village area, authorities said.

The pedestrian was walking in traffic lanes on I-5 near Nobel Drive shortly after 11 p.m. when he was hit by a grey Toyota sedan driven by a 23-year-old man, the California Highway Patrol said.After the collision, several lanes of the freeway were closed for hours as CHP officers investigated the incident. The lanes reopened shortly after 4 a.m.
