An Ozark man was killed after being struck by a vehicle Sunday near Hartford.
HARTFORD – A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. Sunday has claimed the life of an Ozark man.Wade Alan Hartzog, 66, the pedestrian, was fatally injured after being struck by the 2006 Nissan Frontier driven by Richard Leroy Popp, 70, of Hartford, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney said Sunday evening.
McKinney said Hartzog was standing in the roadway adjacent to the disabled 2009 Yamaha XVS650 motorcycle when he was struck. Hartzog was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash occurred on Alabama 123 near the eight-mile marker, approximately four miles north of Hartford, in Geneva County. McKinney said nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
