Yet ironically, this generation of women is less likely to hire, promote and advocate for younger women.surmised that women are tough on women and don’t “help” them because they don’t want to appear feminist or fear disapproval from their male colleagues. While these are valid concerns, there are ways to reconcile these perceptions and thoughts through moderate and fair acts of support.
This year, I would love to see women #BreaktheBias towards one another and extend support through mentorship, knowledge-sharing, championship and kindness. We need each other to serve as soundboards to each other — we need to have one another’s backs. We can’t march in #MeToo rallies and wear “girl power” paraphernalia but judge and criticize women for their choices, their careers, what they wear, their lifestyles and so on. We can’t say we want parity for women and not make conscious efforts to call out equity for women of any background, sexual orientation, ability, faith, etc. If we are going to move forward in society, women need to be in lockstep with all self-identified women in good faith.
