The shooting happened in the 600 block of High Street about 10:30 p.m.
OAKLAND — A 34-year-old man remained in critical but stable condition Tuesday morning after being shot Monday night, police said.
The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. in the 600 block of High Street, police said. The shooting happened at an address tied to an area where unhoused people lived in their RVs. City officials did not say Tuesday whether the lot remains open for such living arrangements. According to police, the victim and his shooter had a dispute before the gunfire. The victim was hit in the abdomen, police said.
The suspect fled the area, and police were searching for him. Police said they did not know if the suspect and victim knew each other or what caused the dispute. Oakland police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the shooter. Police can be contacted at 510-238-3426, and Crime Stoppers can be contacted at 510-777-8572.
