Amazing work! 👏 When Janet Colement collapsed last May at the North Olmsted store, Discount Drug Mart pharmacist Matt Kirby quickly ran from behind the pharmacy desk and performed life-saving CPR before paramedics arrived to take her to the hospital.
Quickly running around the pharmacy desk was Discount Drug Mart pharmacist Matt Kirby, who saved the North Olmsted woman’s life by performing CPR before EMS arrived to take her to the hospital.
“When I came around the corner, it was a lot more than fainted. She was pretty blue. I checked for a pulse and there wasn’t any breathing. All of a sudden, you’re like, ‘Oh, boy, here we go. I hope I remember how to do this.’ “After they took her out on the stretcher, I actually came back into the pharmacy and sat in the back bay for 20 minutes because I had so much adrenaline rolling,” Kirby said. “My hands were shaking.
“We are healthcare providers serving communities throughout Ohio, and this training is a critical part of what we do.”“I went to Drug Mart to pick up a couple of items,” said Colement, who has lived in North Olmsted since 1993. “I went to bend down and check the expiration date on a loaf of bread and that’s all I remember. That’s when she asked what was going on and learned that Kirby had quickly started giving her chest compressions.
