It was 400 days ago that the Rockies traded third baseman Nolan Arenado to the St. Louis Cardinals.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. —
The trade was viewed almost universally as a lopsided deal for St. Louis, but from the Rockies’ point of view, there are glimmers of hope. Gomber made 23 starts , posting an ERA of 4.53 with 113 strikeouts. He was excellent at Coors Field, putting up a 2.09 ERA over nine starts and holding opponents to a .187/.257/.319 slash line.Montero, 23, could well be the most intriguing piece of the trade and he’s been added to the 40-man roster. Because of the ongoing Major League Baseball lockout, he’s not participating in the Rockies’ minor league camp.
