Christopher Bell raced Kyle Larson to the finish line at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend in the Round of 8, finishing just behind the 2021 NASCAR champion.Fans have told Bell he should have pushed Larson out of his way and taken the lead, though Bell says he likely couldn’t pass Larson regardless, and wouldn’t deliberately crash anyone out even if it did lead to a win.Bell goes into next week’s race at Homestead Speedway in fifth place and on the bubble for elimination.
” Bell says the way people are second-guessing his handling of the final lap at Las Vegas reminds him a little of the movie Sully in which an investigative board criticizes US Airways Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger for landing his disabled jet on the Hudson River. Sullenberger’s actions saved all 155 people on the plane. “In the moment, I chose what I chose, and I did what I did, and if I had 18 opportunities, maybe I would have won the race,” Bell says.
