to my alarm, which is a mashup of “Theme from New York, New York,” “Empire State of Mind,” and the audiobook of “The Bonfire of the Vanities.” I spend a few minutes taking in the spectacular view of the city from my apartment on top of the Chrysler Building and then pop over to the Statue of Liberty for a quick morning visit with my roommates, the 1995-era cast of “Friends.”
After my bagel, it’s time to go to work. I commute to my office by hopping in a classic yellow cab and telling the driver to step on it to the nearest subway stop, which I then ride to the Staten Island Ferry, which takes me the rest of the way. There are so many awesome ways to get around the city. I hate all of them.
