Tim Jackson is retiring from the Monterey Jazz Festival after more than 30 years.
Yet, the longtime artistic director isn’t leaving until after he enjoys one more great lineup that he booked for the festival. Here are 5 acts that Jackson recommends for music fans to hear at the 65th annual Monterey Jazz Festival, which runs Sept. 22-24 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. For more information, visit“Terence is going to be doing essentially a whole career retrospective, with a whole bunch of special guests — like Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride and Benny Green,” Jackson says. “He’s going to be playing music going all the way back to his Art Blakey days.
