Mariners advised of Russian missile operations in Bering Sea zone off St. Lawrence Island

The operations are expected to continue from Thursday to Sept. 24 and are not in violation of international laws, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The operations are expected to continue from Thursday to Sept. 24 in a stretch of the Bering Sea that includes part of the U.S. exclusive economic zone southwest of St. Lawrence Island, along the U.S.-Russia Maritime Boundary Line, said Petty Officer 2nd Class John Hightower with the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska.

The Russian missile operations are planned within international waters and are not in violation of international laws, Hightower said. NGA released a warning advising mariners of Russian missile operations in the Bering Sea, including within the US EEZ south of St. Lawrence Island, until Sept. 24.
