UCLA's title hopes fell Friday night in their 69-66 loss against North Carolina, who were led by Caleb Loves' 28 points.
The Bruins hopes were crushed Friday, failing to earn a spot in their second-straight Elite Eight, with their tight loss against University of North Carolina, 73-66.
UCLA rode to a 31-28 lead at half on the back of a nearly evenly spread offensive performance from their starting core. Jules Bernard led the Bruins in scoring at half with nine, followed by eight from Jaime Jaquez Jr. and seven each from Johnny Juzang and Tyger Campbell. A back-and-forth contest persisted throughout the second half as the teams traded shots throughout. The Tar Heels tied it up with just over seven minutes left in the half, but a wild over-the-shoulder layup from Campbell put the Bruins back up, 58-56.
Tar Heels answered back with a huge pair of three-pointers from Caleb Love to take the lead with 58.2 seconds left.
