Live Election Day results, updates for Dallas mayor, City Council, other North Texas races
Of council members representing the city’s 14 districts, two are leaving because of term limits. Casey Thomas, representing District 3 in southwest Dallas, and Adam McGough, representing District 10 in northeast Dallas, have served eight years over four terms.
Chad West, the incumbent City Council member for District 1, is seeking a third consecutive term. He is running against Mariana Griggs and Albert Mata. López said he is also concerned about a lack of sidewalk maintenance and the hazards it poses to residents, particularly older adults. He said he hopes elected officials make the issue a priority.
“The incumbent has done an OK job so far, but we think it is time for new leadership. Someone who represents the community,” Miguel Segura said. Carroll, who said he has been a poll worker for three years, said the library typically has a high turnout compared to other locations in the county, though it had been slow Saturday morning.
Collins was especially interested in the City Council member race for District 11, where incumbent Jaynie Schultz is seeking a second term. Schultz is facing Candy Evans, who previously ran for City Council in 2017 and 2021.
