The three swimmers were conscious when they were brought ashore in North Wildwood.
Around 4:30 p.m., lifeguards at the 21st Avenue beach spotted three swimmers floundering in the surf about 80 yards off the shoreline. Using rescue buoys, they dashed into the surf and brought two men and a woman safely to shore, said James Sawyer, an EMT and member of the North Wildwood Beach Patrol who was at the scene.
North Wildwood police confirmed that three people at 21st Avenue beach and one swimmer were taken to Cape May Regional Medical Center. Police would not provide further details.
