Unbeaten in eight MLS matches and in the CONCACAF Champions League final, the Black & Gold are finding ways to successfully manage a hectic schedule
As much as any upcoming opponent, recovering throughout a busy, shifting schedule preceding the CONCACAF Champions League final later this month remains top of mind for the Los Angeles Football Club., LAFC is out to prove it can produce sustained excellence inside and outside Major League Soccer – a bar that has been too high for most teams.
Engineering a prolific season over multiple competitions means the “only way to prepare well for the final is to compete well in domestic play,” midfielder Ilie Sanchez said after dispatching the Union. “The key to not losing focus is remaining humble and remaining united in teamwork,” said center back Jesus Murillo, who is fine after an injury saw him removed for Denil Maldonado at halftime Tuesday. “So from that point of view, I feel the team is very motivated to support in their way and continue accumulating points for whatever tournament it is.”
Sitting fifth in the West after 10 MLS matches , the Earthquakes have secured four wins and a draw at home this year.
