The Justice Department is escalating the abortion pill legal case to the Supreme Court after an appeals court ruling limited access to the drug mifepristone.
Attorney General Bob Ferguson of Washington on Thursday said access to mifepristone remains unchanged in 17 states and the District of Columbia that were subject to a court ruling Friday.
The U.S. 5th Circuit Court of Appeals imposed tougher restrictions on mifepristone Wednesday after the Justice Department appealed the ruling out of Texas by U.S. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk. "No judge in Texas or the 5th Circuit gets to override what a federal judge in Washington state has decided," he told CNBC.
