A growing number of workers applied for jobless benefits last week, a sign the labor market is beginning to tighten in the face of higher interest rates.
by the Labor Department show initial claims for the week ended April 8 rose by 11,000 to 239,000. That is above the 2019 pre-pandemic average of 218,000 claims.
