As Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will wrap up the DCEU, new fan art imagines Jason Momoa as his new reported role in James Gunn's DC Universe.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT New fan art shows what Jason Momoa could look like as the new character that he is reportedly being eyed to play in the DC Universe. A fresh DC era is on its way as James Gunn and Peter Safran are working on building their new DC Universe with multiple movies and TV shows being developed. But before they can get there, the DCEU has to be wrapped up, which will come to fruition in December with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
While Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will finish the DCEU timeline, Momoa may not be done with his DC adventures. Following new reports that Momoa is being eyed to play Lobo in Gunn's DC Universe, Bosslogic shared new artwork of the DCEU star as the iconic bounty hunter. DC Studios have not confirmed nor denied Momoa's potential casting as Lobo, which may not be announced until after Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's release. All that has been shared to this point is Momoa hyping up that he has a mystery DC project in the works with Gunn and Safran. The speculation about Momoa playing Lobo was fueled when he cryptically said in an interview, "Well, everyone knows I'm a comic book fan. The comic I collected the most, and I have every comic there is.
While Lobo is a dangerous bounty hunter in the comics, he is also known for being a hyped-up loudmouth, which Momoa has demonstrated in various interviews. Outside of his acting abilities, it can't be denied that Momoa is a spitting image of Lobo in real life. From his massive build to the long hair, Momoa would only need to have the Lobo make-up and costume to complete the entire look.
Time will tell if Momoa is indeed playing Lobo and, if so, if it will be in his own solo movie or TV show unless he appears in a different DC Universe project first. With Lobo being one of DC's more obscure characters, it will be interesting to see how he fits into Gunn and Safran's Chapter 1, "Gods and Monsters." Hopefully, the mystery about Momoa's DC Universe role will be addressed soon enough.
