Israel's military massed troops on the border with Gaza as airstrikes pummeled the Palestinian enclave in the wake of Saturday's attack by Hamas.
Israel's energy minister said that aid, including water and fuel, wouldn't flow into Gaza until all the hostages taken by Hamas were returned. Israel Katz said that, 'No electrical switch will be turned on, no water tap opened, no fuel truck will enter until the Israelis taken hostage are returned home.
' 'Humanitarian for humanitarian . And no one should preach ethics to us,' Katz wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Israel imposed what it said was a total siege on Gaza in response to the deadliest attack from the enclave in decades. On Wednesday, Gaza's last operational power plant shut down for lack of fuel. The United Nations has warned of water shortages in the enclave.
