Barcelona, the Spanish league's defending champ, comes into Tuesday's action with a five-match winning streak.
Robert Lewandowski is performing at the high levels expected of him, with five goals and three assists so far, best in the league. He led Barcelona to a comeback 3-2 win over Celta in its match Saturday, scoring at the 81st and 85th minutes to tie the match. João Cancelo, who set up Lewandowski on the goal that tied the match at 2-2, then scored at the 89th minute to complete the dramatic rally.
Cancelo joined Barcelona on the final day of the transfer window on loan from Manchester City. He has made an immediate impact by giving Barcelona a versatile right back, and it was never more evident than when he joined in a last-gasp push against Celta. He acted as a midfielder to provide an assist for the Poland striker to make it 2-2, then 4 minutes later made a run through the heart of the defense where he met a lobbed pass by Gavi Páez and guided it home for the game-winner.
