All eyes will be on Jake Oettinger, Jason Robertson and Miro Heiskanen to see if they can maintain success.
“Miro has established himself as an offensive No. 1 power play guy. We’re not asking questions and he’s not wondering, ‘Am I going to be able to do it?’” DeBoer said. “Robo has established himself as a 100-point guy in the NHL and one of the top forwards in the game.Heiskanen, who was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2017 draft, recorded 73 points last year after never having more than 36 in his previous four seasons. He tied for the fifth-most regular-season points among NHL defensemen.
DeBoer attempted to temper expectations during camp about those three players. While he said he can only hope they pick up where they left off last year, he expects there to be some dips throughout the season.Part of that is a result of some changes in strategy, especially when it comes to Heiskanen and Oettinger. The Stars starting goalie played 62 regular-season games last year, far more than the team had anticipated after his backup Scott Wedgewood missed over a month with an injury.
