A Hammond man faces charges after attacking a woman.
Gregorio J. Ibarra, 19, was charged Wednesday. He is in custody, held on a $7,500 cash bond. Hammond Police responded around 10:31 p.m. Oct. 9 to the 800 block of Logan Street. A SWAT and negotiator team spoke with Ibarra, who was arrested. Officers met the victim and her two relatives on the 4700 block of Calumet Avenue. The victim told officers she and Ibarra had a three-month-old baby. She moved in with him a month ago.
The man appeared to grab two weapons to keep it away from Ibarra, the woman told officers. Ibarra grabbed a “Micro Draco” and threatened to shoot her if she didn’t go, court records allege. The woman yelled for help. Her younger relative came inside, helped her get her stuff and they left. When they were pulling away, all three women said they heard gunshots. The victim said she saw a “flash” from a gun, but didn’t know who was armed. Ibarra was the person she saw last with a gun, she said.
