The New York State Department of Transportation is now issuing tickets to drivers who speed through work zones.
Over the past month, the department has been sending warning letters instead of fines, as part of a grace period.
The Automated Work Zone Speed Monitoring Program is a joint initiative between the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Thruway Authority.
