In an interview with Happy, Sad, Confused, Edwards recounted the time he received a phone call Lucas after a screening of Rogue One. "We showed him around the set, he came to visit Pinewood [Studios] at one point. We had a day where we showed him everything. That just felt the most surreal thing in the world, to be showing George Lucas a Star Wars film, part of it felt wrong in that sense... I was doing interviews, and there's this person hovering by the door, and I was like 'What?'.
Few have the pleasure of saying they received a phone call from Lucas in the middle of the day, let alone to get a rave review for a new Star Wars film. While the moment itself was an out-of-body experience for Edwards, Lucas' praise left a lasting effect on the filmmaker.
