Affordable housing projects in Santa Clara, San Jose and Morgan Hill were unanimously approved on Tuesday by the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, marking yet another round of development that the county continues to charge ahead with as it aims to tackle the region’s acute housing crisis.
In San Jose, the Roosevelt Park Apartments will be located at 21 N. 21st St. and the Algarve Apartments will be at 1135 E. Santa Clara St. In Morgan Hill, the Royal Oak Village will be at 15440 Monterey Road, while the Kifer Senior Apartments in Santa Clara will be located at 3335-3337 Kifer Road. Five different developers will be involved with the projects.
“The 73-unit , I would like to use that as a minimum,” said Lee. “And I certainly would love to, after the purchase , see if there is any opportunity to make it higher density so that more affordable family units can be built in that space.”
