F1’s 2023 Miami GP provided loads of amusing entertainment, and much of it had nothing to do with what happened on the racetrack.
at the Miami Dolphins Hard Rock Stadium, just a short drive west of South Beach, Florida. Blue skies and the stars are shining. In the morning, Vin Diesel is on the front straight, surrounded by more gophers than a tumbleweed on a Montana prairie, filming a promo forfranchise. Not quite as many as the 712 Marvel superhero movies that have been made, but not for a lack of trying.It's also day three of the Writers Guild of America strike.
Director Joseph Kosinski and bigtime producer Jerry Bruckheimer were in Miami for the grand prix, guests at the Accelerate Summitlast year's summer blockbuster starring Tom Cruise. They apparently plan to install the same small 6K cameras used to film Cruise's fighter-jet scenes into Pitt's race car.
With all of this silliness swirling around the Florida F1 track, Friday couldn't arrive soon enough. When it finally did, attention was directed to race cars circulating around the Miami International Autodrome. Thanks to repaving and a slightly redesigned layout to the chicane at Turns 14 and 15, there was actually a wonderful place for drivers to overtake each other—as Red Bull's reigning world champion Max Verstappen proved during the race.
