Davis improved to 24-6 with the win.
Phil Davis, in this file photo, scored a unanimous decision win Saturday at Bellator 276. Maybe Mauro Ranallo put it best as the final bell sounded in Saturday’s Bellator 276 bout between former Penn State wrestling national champion and Harrisburg native Phil Davis and Julius Anglickas.“Mr. Wonderful just took Julius Anglickas to takedown city,” the announcer said.
Indeed, after a back-and-fort first half of the first round, Davis went to his bread and butter and began to overwhelm Anglickas with his wrestling. He finished the first round on top of his opponent. Finished the second round that way, too, and he took Anglickas down multiple times in the third, slamming him near that final bell, for good measure.
The result was a unanimous decision — 30-27 on all three judges’ cards — win for Davis, who improved to 24-6. Anglickas fell to 10-3. Davis, who was coming off a September win over former UFC title contender Yoel Romero, has now won five of his last six fights.
