Forest City Brewery has initiated a multi-pronged effort to raise money for the Ukrainian Red Cross.

• The brewery is making “Slava Ukraini!” – meaning “Glory to Ukraine!” The traditional wheat beer honors Ukraine as one of the world’s largest wheat-growing regions. The beer will be released after St. Patrick’s Day.• A dollar for every order of pierogis sold through Dyngus Day – Monday, April 18 – also will benefit the cause.

• A dollar for every Beer 101 ticket sold through Tuesday, March 15, will support the Ukrainian Red Cross as well. The event includes a mini-brewery tour, tasting and brewmaster talk with flight of beers, and a growler to fill.In a statement, Forest City Brewery co-owner Jay Demagall condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Ukraine’s heroic fight for democracy should make us all proud, and we can’t ignore the innocent lives lost and the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians displaced by this war. From our early ban of Russian vodka, to these donations to assist the Ukrainian Red Cross, we are committed to supporting our Ukrainian friends.”
