Those in the state of Maine who receive food stamps will begin seeing their monthly benefits to help pay for groceries in seven days.
In the Pine Tree State, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program sends out payments to recipients from the 10th to the 14th of every month. For this month, beneficiaries will see payments from Aug. 10-14 depending on their date of birth.Recipients born on days ending in 0 or 9 get their benefits on Aug. 10, with those born on days ending in 1 or 8 seeing their benefits on Aug. 11, those born on days ending in 2 or 3 getting their benefits on Aug.
In order to receive food stamps in Maine, those applying may not be making more than a certain income, depending on their household size. The range of maximum annual income is $26,973 for a household of one to $65,009 for a household of five. Maximum income requirements for other household sizes can be found on the state's website.
The average amount a beneficiary will receive is also dependent on a variety of factors, but the average monthly benefit in the state per household is $168.Once a beneficiary has their monthly benefits loaded onto their Maine EBT card, they may use the card to access their benefits for eligible items at stores.
In the Pine Tree State, recipients may use their benefits for groceries and seeds, but they may not be used for prepared meals. Additional information on the eligible items for SNAP can be found on the state's website.
