The "ring of fire" pattern in place, with clusters of thunderstorms riding around the northern edge of a heat dome of high pressure camped over the Southern Plains. NOAA's Weather Prediction Center has highlighted a pair of general areas where the threat of flash flooding is highest the next few days.
- This flash flood threat migrates into the northern High Plains, including parts of the Dakotas, eastern Montana and northeastern Wyoming Thursday into Friday.- The mid-Mississippi Valley through Wednesday night, including the St. Louis metro area.
