Ohio House Rep. Bob Young is accused of placing a tracking device on a family member’s car in July, a move that authorities say violates a protection order stemming from a domestic dispute, according to an affidavit filed Monday in Barberton Municipal Court.
The allegations detail the latest charges against Young involving the dispute, which prompted the GOP representative to resign his seat, effective Oct. 2.
Ryan Fraley, a Summit County sheriff’s detective, wrote in Monday’s filing that a family member in Young’s domestic case found a LandAirSea GPS device on her vehicle July 31. Detectives tracked the model back to the company. Authorities found that Young purchased the device with a credit card two days earlier, according to the affidavit. He used the same credit card to buy clothes in August.
Young said in his resignation letter to Jason Stephens, the speaker of the Ohio House, that he fears that he has become a distraction.
