Dungeons & Dragons 2 could be a much better showcase for Sophia Lillis' Doric, who was one of Honor Among Thieves most underused characters.
Dungeons & Dragons 2 would give one of Honor Among Thieves' best supporting players a better spotlight. Fans of Dungeons & Dragons were understandably cautious when Honor Among Thieves was first announced. Outside of a deliciously hammy villain turn by Jeremy Irons, the original Dungeons & Dragons movie from 2000 is one of the decade's worst blockbusters, and its two subsequent straight-to-DVD sequels are forgotten with reason.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Despite solid reviews, Dungeons & Dragons was a box-office failure, grossing nearly $210 million worldwide on an estimated $150 million budget. In the years ahead, the movie is almost certain to be reclaimed as an underrated adaptation of the beloved role-playing game, but its numbers don't inspire hope of a sequel.
Doric Would Be Perfect For A Dungeons & Dragons Spinoff There's a lot of territory Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves 2 or a spinoff could dive into with Doric. It could examine her origins, where her hatred for humanity came from and her continued fight for her home in the Emerald Enclave.
Which sadly, brings things back around to Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves' financial performance. There's no getting around the movie's tepid box-office numbers and while Honor Among Thieves has already amassed a fanbase, it's unlikely Paramount would roll the dice on a sequel at a similar budget level. That said, the studio seems to be working to make Dungeons & Dragons a brand, as their upcoming series proves.
