Balis was introduced Monday as the newest member of Mike Rhyner’s show, The Downbeat.
In the announcement, Rhyner told listeners he wanted Balis from the beginning., hinting at limited advancement and saying he plans to focus on other parts of his life. But he said he was eager to jump at the chance to work with Rhyner, who he has known for 22 years.
Balis is an accomplished bass player, guitarist, and co-owner of the Twilite Lounge in Deep Ellum. He was a regular on the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene. On The Ticket, Balis created parody songs, comedy segments and joined in the sports discussions.
