Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick channels Mattress Mack to make his case on property taxes
Karina Kling/Spectrum 1 NewsWhen Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick went on TV news this week holding fistfuls of dollars to show how much money people could save on their property taxes, it had a familiar feel for anyone who has seen a Mattress Mack commercial over the decades., Patrick got a laugh out of anchor Karina Kling when he held up wads of cash in his hands, much like Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale has done in Houston TV ads.
. Patrick, a Houston Republican, oversees the Texas Senate as part of his role as lieutenant governor. While holding the money, Patrick said the Senate plan offers seniors a $1,060 tax break on their owner-occupied homes, and people under 65 would save $800 more under the Senate plan that they would get under the House plan.
