As part of their launch to recruit poll workers for the May 3 primary – which could be moved due to the lack of legislative and congressional maps – the board said it would bump the base stipend for poll workers from $173 to $250, with workers having the opportunity to make up to $275 for their time. Poll workers perform critical tasks on election day, such as overseeing poll locations and handing out correct ballots.
Cuyahoga Board of Elections Director Anthony Perlatti said the board is looking for nearly 4,000 poll workers for the primary election. “Poll workers are essential and invaluable in conducting a successful election,” he said in a statement. “We hope that this pay increase will help attract additional applicants who want to help us defend democracy on Election Day while earning some extra money.”Poll workers must be at least 17 years old and live in and be registered to vote in Cuyahoga County. People convicted of a felony are not eligible to become poll workers.www.443vote.
