New Mexico had seen the greatest increases in hospitalizations, up 52.6 percent week on week, while others have seen rises of over 30 percent.
Nine U.S. states have had a substantial increase in coronavirus hospitalizations in the latest recorded week compared to the week prior, new maps produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show.While there were 18,139 new admissions with the virus across the U.S.
Hospitalizations with COVID-19 had been rising since late June, before seemingly peaking at the start of September, but have been steadily falling since then and remain well below the highest recorded peak of over 150,600 patients in the week ending January 15, 2021.However, a CDC spokesperson previously told Newsweek: 'While rates now seem to be plateauing, we are entering October, which is the typical start of the respiratory virus season.
