A fight led to gunfire outside of Cleveland Central Catholic High School where a 15-year-old was shot Friday afternoon, Cleveland Police say.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Central Catholic will not have classes for students on Monday following Friday’s shooting.
Cleveland Police previously said a 15-year-old was shot in the side during a fight with another 15-year-old student at the intersection of Baxter Ave. and E. 65th Street. CPD say the 15-year-old was taken to the hospital by EMS. The student’s current condition is unknown. Cleveland Catholic Diocese spokesperson Nancy Fishburn on Saturday confirmed that despite initial reports, CPD determined a weapon “other than a pellet gun” was likely involved in the incident.
Fishburn also confirmed the school moved its homecoming game off-campus with no spectators and will be re-scheduling its homecoming dance to a later date.
