“If I thought getting criticized about my body in the press was bad, it hurt even more from my own father,” the “Toxic” singer writes in her forthcoming memoir,in 2007 to fight against the constant scrutiny of her body and looks, but the dramatic decision cost her autonomy. “I’d been eyeballed so much growing up, I’d been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back,” she writes.“He repeatedly told me I looked fat and that I was going to have to do something about it,” she writes in “The Woman in Me.”Jamie Spears placed Britney under a conservatorship in 2008 after she had a public meltdown in 2007 that involved shaving her head.
“I think back now on my father and his associates having control over my body and my money for that long, and it makes me feel sick,” she shares. Although Britney has leveled numerous accusations against her father, Jamie, 71, has maintained that he made decisions he felt were best for his daughter.“They’ve heard the allegations from Britney. I don’t mind taking that beating because I know it’s not true, and because I don’t want to start something else.
