Borrego Springs residents notified of sexually violent predator moving into community [Breaking]
Residents in Borrego Springs were notified last week that a man classified as a sexually violent predator is scheduled to move into a home in the East County community by late May where he will live under supervision by state authorities, sheriff’s officials said.
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department warned that the notifications are intended to inform the public, allowing them to protect themselves and their children, but should not prompt people to threaten or harass Badger. Most sexually violent predators — including Badger — are confined at Coalinga State Hospital in Fresno County, where they can take part in a program that aims to teach them how to curb their criminal urges. If they are successful in the program, they could be released to live under state supervision in the community and continue treatment outside the hospital.
A judge rescinded Badger’s order for the release in 2005, citing information that a psychologist who treated him had an affair with another former sexually violent predator.
