Auburn started slow, but head coach got what he wanted right after his interview.

The Auburn coach, who gave the obligatory end-of-the-first quarter interview Saturday, got exactly what he said he needed from his Tigers after they fell into a 17-0 deficit at LSU.

“A very tough start,” Freeze told ESPN. “We are fighting on this drive. We got some good stuff. We need to finish this drive. We have to convert this third down and get it into the end zone.” Sure enough, when the Tigers came back for the second quarter, facing a third and 3 at LSU 12, Robby Ashford completed a pass to Brandon Frazier for 10 yds to the LSU 2 for a first down. On the next play, Jarquez Hunter scored on a 2-yard run.

Prior to Freeze’s comments, Auburn couldn’t muster a first down on the first two drives. The Tigers managed five on the scoring drive..
