PM Lee was speaking at the LKY100 The Greening of Singapore commemoration ceremony, which commemorated the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew's vision of a green and clean Singapore.

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Sunday urged Singapore to remember what the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his generation stood for, as the country marked his 100th birthday.

The event featured a short film about the late Mr Lee's vision, and interactive booths showcasing the work of green groups. The late Mr Lee, then also called Singapore's chief gardener, played an integral role towards beautifying Singapore. "It was their ambition for Singapore, their courage to make difficult choices, their foresight to plan ahead and their determination to realise these plans, these are the attributes, these are the factors that took Singapore from third world ."
