All American season 6 is delayed at The CW, as the network preps its unscripted programming instead. The long-running sports drama was first renewed in January 2023, signaling the level of support that the series has built up at a time of uncertainty at The CW. Although it was originally supposed to air in the fall on Mondays, the channel's schedule has changed.
Per Variety, The CW has confirmed that All American season 6 has been moved to midseason. The network confirmed the change, which is likely due to the impact of the ongoing writers strike for fair wages, after announcing premiere dates for the rest of its fall schedule. 61st Street, a legal drama led by Courtney B. Vance and Aunjanue Ellis, is also pushed to midseason.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Why All American Season 6 Won't Be Back Soon All American's move to midseason is a hopeful move on The CW's part that the writers strike will be over by the new year. But as of this writing, the reports suggest that the WGA and the AMPTP, which negotiates on behalf of studios and streaming services, aren't anywhere close to a deal.
SAG-AFTRA, the actors' guild, haven't reached a deal of their own. That paves the way for the actors to strike. This means that actors would be unable to participate in filming, interviews, photoshoots, and other kinds of press for their projects. Optimistically, it's been argued that the actors' strike will put pressure on the AMPTP to negotiate with the WGA so that shows like All American season 6 can get back to their stories.
Hopefully, should SAG-AFTRA and WGA have their demands for fair pay and contracts addressed, it would still take time for the likes of All American season 6 to ramp up production and deliver new episodes as executives have made clear in their remarks. The first step to that is making sure that everyone involved with these popular shows receives an equitable deal for the writers and actors in their respective guilds.
