Cigars more popular among youthThe report by Rutgers University found that about 500,000 youth smoke cigars, with more than 800 youth per day using it for the first time. The report says small flavored cigars, often sold at a cheap price, are partly to blame.
The report says cigars are now the second most popular tobacco products for youth. The Food and Drug Administration says it is finalizing plans to ban the sale of flavored cigars. A highly contagious bird flu has made its first appearances in commercial poultry flocks this season, affectingand raising concerns that more outbreaks could follow.
Before last week, the only reports of bird flu in recent months were sporadic appearances in backyard flocks or among wild birds. It's a concern to the poultry industry because migrating birds can spread the disease to vulnerable commercial flocks. Bird flu last year cost U.S. poultry producers nearly 59 million birds across 47 states, caused spikes in egg and turkey prices for consumers and cost the government over $660 million dollars.There are more than 18 million cancer survivors in the United States, and that number is expected to rise to 26 million by 2040.
