A major twist in Immortal X-Men #16 reveals that the newly murderous Charles Xavier is still corrupted by the genetic tampering of Mister Sinister.
Warning: contains spoilers for Immortal X-Men #16The final page of Immortal X-Men #16 revealed a horrifying secret about the founder of the X-Men, Charles Xavier, teasing that the powerful psychic's mind is still corrupted by the nefarious influence of the classic villain Mister Sister. The recent Sins of Sinister event detailed a horrific alternate future that was destroyed by Sinister-corrupted Krakoan leaders, and it appears that Sinister's manipulations are far from over.
However, in Immortal X-Men #16, from writer Kieron Gillen and artist Lucas Werneck, Charles Xavier discovers that the Mister Sinister personality from the SOS timeline still exists in his mind and is forcing him to commit further sins, a horrific discovery for a man who prides himself on his supposed goodness and ethics.
While Forge was able to remove this rogue gene from Xavier's genome, he made it very clear that there was no guarantee that Sinister was fully exorcised. In Immortal X-Men #16 after successfully fending off Sebastian Shaw and Selene, Xavier heads to what appears to be his base of operations - the former clone lab of Mister Sinister - where he sees a cryptic message written in blood on a mirror stating, "Don't kill yourself, please.
