Saint Mary's and the University of San Francisco could technically face off in the Elite Eight.

It'll be an uphill battle for both schools, though the Gaels have a more realistic path forward. This is Saint Mary's top-seeded squad in team history . The Gaels were the undisputed second-best team in the WCC this year, behind the country's No. 1 overall seed, Gonzaga. Saint Mary's finished 25-7 overall and 12-3 in conference play.
The Gaels' first-round opponent will be the winner of the No. 12 play-in game between the Wyoming Cowboys and the Indiana Hoosiers . The play-in game will be on Tuesday, March 15; the 5-12 matchup will be on Thursday, March 17.
